Whyte 2014 Gravity Enduro mountain bike race team update
We are really excited to confirm our 4 man team in the U.K. Gravity Enduro 2014 series riding the sensational new Whyte G150 Works bikes.
The G150 Works bikes Powered by Sram are aimed squarely at this exciting and relatively new category of riding and if the series entries are anything to go by, the interest should be sky high. With over 500 signings in the first 2 hours of opening and the first 3 rounds sold out by the close of play that same day with 1120 entries!
Combining youth and experience, we have an enticing squad covering 3 categories: Junior, Elite and Masters and this includes the reigning 2013 Overall Junior Champion Peter Lloyd – as well as Ben Price, Martyn Brookes and are very own Neil Halcrow (ATB Sales Ltd Sales and Training Manager)
We are also delighted to be able to confirm that the team powered by Sram will also be partnered by Osprey back packs, Torq fitness performance products, Sweet protection, Maxxis Tyres, Juice Lubes, SealSkinz and Ergon all helping the riders perform to their optimum. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all.
Everything is coming together nicely and our Whyte team are busy making final preparations for the forth coming Season. We can’t wait!
Rider details:
Peter Lloyd – Racing in the Junior category and the current Junior overall UK Gravity Enduro champion. We are really excited to have this prestigious talent on board this year. He has been working his way up the rankings over the last couple of years. He started riding seriously 3 years ago and has since finished 3rd overall in the Under 18 category in 2012 and then took the overall win in 2013 thanks to a season of consistent riding. This off season he has been training hard and is hungry for podium finishes and wins in 2014.
24/03/14 – News just in – Pete wins the Hopton Gravity Stages in the Junior category …
Ben Price – Ben is an elite XC rider who joins the team having made the switch to Enduro racing in 2012. A gap in the XC calendar saw him racing the Mega Avalanche which had him hooked on the discipline. His XC fitness combined with an ever developing technical ability has seen Ben perform well finishing inside the top 10 at a number of the Uk’s main Enduro events. Ben will be balancing riding on the Whyte Enduro team in the elite category with managing and racing on the Whyte Supported TORQ Performance MTB Team.
24/03/14 – News just in – Ben scores a great 5th place at the Hopton Gravity Stages in the Elite category …
Martyn Brookes – Martyn is a former elite XC rider who was renowned on the XC circuit for his high level of technical skills, he has had a number of high placing in the Mega Avalanche, including a 37th place finish this year. Martyn has only recently started racing Gravity Enduro in the UK but at his 1st ever round of the UK national series finished 3rd in elite, beating a number of full time professional riders in the process! He is an exceptionally talented rider both physically and technically. He is planning to be a regular podium contender in the elite category in 2014.

Our very own Neil Halcrow (Sales & Training Manager) will be racing in the Masters category. Neil has been mountain biking for over 20 years, formally racing in Endurance 24hr XC event before making the switch to Enduro and mini downhill races 3 years ago and steadily making his way up the rankings in Masters. Neil is extremely at home in the mountains riding steep technical mountain descents and never afraid to get his wheels off the ground.
Neil’s 2013 Enduro season ended abruptly regrettably breaking his wrist during round 3 but after a winter of hard training and physio, Neil is keen to work his way back up to the top 5 in Master for 2014.
